For the first few years I was a nurse I worked Cardiac Critical Care Step-down. I then obtained an internship and job working Cardiovascular Intensive Care my dream job. My coworkers welcomed me warmly; often being an intensive care RN can take over your life. Working weekends, long hours, multiple days on end, you exhaust yourself. Then that one grateful thank you from a patient, or watching a patient you took care of be able to get out of bed for the first time makes it all worth it.
